BIG but small

It is fortuitous that in the week we launch the BIGsmallART NATION show at the Workers Gallery - it is also announced that the Cynon Valley Museum & Gallery will be reopening very soon.

In December 2013 I started an online petition to save the museum from closure and along with other campaigners we made our voice of protest heard through events, public meetings and general campaigning. I created BIGsmallART as a mini art exhibition that any artist could be involved with and that was quick and easy to put up and on show. It was launched at the Cynon Valley Museum and Gallery early 2014 and regular art events in the miniature followed throughout the campaign. BIGsmallART has continued and evolved since then - with this year show including 140 artworks by 50 artists!

It has toured across venues in Wales and has generated interest (and sales) from a wide audience, but it has always remained true to it's ethos to share and celebrate art through bringing artists together. The mini art format is ACEO or ATC and all artwork is 2.5 x 3.5 inches but this year we have expanded the format to include mini sculptures.

We hope that BIGsmallART can show back in the revived Cynon Valley Museum Trust building in the near future to reunite 'old friends'. In the meantime  - the BIGsmallART NATION show is open Thu-Sat 10am -5pm at
